Fr. Robert M. Hussey, SJ, the Provincial of the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus, has decided to close the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth, effective August 2021.  Fr. Hussey announced his decision on 29 May 2020 in a letter to the Province.  You may read Fr. Hussey’s letter, accompanying FAQs, and Br. Derby’s letter of response here.

While we are sorrowful at the decision, we are focused on the remaining time of ministry here in Wernersville.  As much as possible in this pandemic, the Jesuit Center will be offering retreats, days of prayer, and other programs for spiritual renewal, and hosting groups, through August 2021.  You can see our 2020-2021 program calendar here.

April 3-5, 2020 is cancelled

“I Carry Your Heart” Holy Week /

Directed Weekend Retreat

Facilitated by the staff of the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)  This sentiment from a poem by e. e. cummings aptly describes Jesus’ interior state as he approaches his Passion and Death.  He carries our sin, pain and sorrows deeply within his being as he embraces his final hours, and “by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

As we begin Holy Week, we are invited into the heart of Christ, to be drawn deeper into the saving mystery of his Passion.  The retreat will include individual spiritual direction from the Center staff, as well as opportunities for private prayer, liturgy, the sacrament of Reconciliation, and the Stations of the Cross.  All are welcome, but registration is limited to 16 people.

Arrival is on Friday between 4:00 and 5:45 PM, followed by dinner and the opening session; departure on Sunday is at 2:00 PM.

Cost is $240 ($120 non-refundable deposit).
